General Information


The Atlanta Metro Area with its’ diverse industrial, educational and economic base will provide a variety of unique technical tours for conference attendees. The tours will showcase companies and organizations involved in alternative energy production, alternative transportation technologies, sustainable manufacturing, aircraft component manufacturing and repair, airport operations, and tours of several labs involved in cutting edge research at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).

Industry tour locations include a pre-conference tour of InterfaceFLOR, as well as conference tours of Suniva, American Maglev Technology, The Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and Delta Airline’s TechOps. Attendees of the Georgia Tech tour will be able to choose from four technical tracks with research areas relating to Energy, Manufacturing and Materials Science, Nano-/Bio-technology and Robotics, and Civil and Environmental Engineering. TOUR REGISTRATION

Preregistration is required for all tours so that proper arrangements for transportation may be made, and minimum and maximum capacities are maintained. Registration for all tours is available as part of the general conference registration process.

The tour of Delta TechOps and the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport requires a list of names and personal information of tour participants 30 days in advance of the tour. Required information, collected as part of the registration process, includes: last name, first name, title, and date of birth. Foreign nationals are permitted to attend the tour, but must provide their passport number, expiration date and country of origin, as well as their name—exactly as it appears on their valid passport—when registering for the tour. All attendees will be required to provide a valid driver’s license or U.S. government recognized form of identification (valid passport) to the security team upon arrival.

Transportation

Transportation to all tours is provided.

Refunds and Substitutions

Due to the tour capacity limits this year, no refunds will be made for cancellations after December 3, 2010, or for no-shows. Tour participant substitutions are not permitted because of the security requirements at each tour location.

Identification

Conference badges must be worn during all tours. Participants should also carry a picture ID issued by a government or university entity (e.g., driver’s license, passport, State/Federal employee card, student ID). Please check the details of each tour for more information.

RESTRICTIONS

Cameras, video or voice recorders, and cell phones are prohibited on some tours and will be noted under the specific tour details. All tours will require quite a bit of walking and standing. Accordingly, please plan to wear a comfortable pair of shoes.
