General Information

Knoxville, TN, is home to several research and development facilities that are providing opportunities for technical tours to conference attendees. Tour locations include Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Y-12 National Security Complex, Siemens Medical Solutions’ Molecular Imaging Group, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Tours of all four locations are offered on both Tuesday, January 8, 2008, and Wednesday, January 9, 2008, but the times for each tour are slightly different on Wednesday (tours this day have been shortened to allow participants to return in time for the conference banquet that night). Please check individual tour pages for more information.

U.S. citizenship is required for the Y-12 National Security Complex tour, while the tour of Oak Ridge National Laboratory is open to all except those born in one of the five “terrorist sensitive” countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria). These facilities require the list of names of tour participants in advance to conduct background checks. In addition, each participant of the Y-12 National Security Complex tour must present valid proof of U.S. citizenship upon arrival at the tour location. Acceptable proof of citizenship includes U.S. passports (current or expired) and State-certified birth certificates. Please note that hospital-issued birth certificates cannot be used as proof of U.S. citizenship.

No refunds will be made for cancellations after December 7, 2007, or for no-shows.

Conference badges must be worn during all tours. Participants should also carry a picture ID issued by a government or university entity (e.g., driver’s license, passport, State/Federal employee card, student ID). The Y-12 National Security Complex tours are restricted to U.S. Citizens only. Please check the details of each tour for more information.
